Reunification Workshop – The Post-Wall Generation and German Reunification (edited by Priska Jones)
“20 Years of German Reunification” – what does this mean for those who never experienced the division? What does the Post-Wall generation think about East and West, reunification and division? Do these issues play a role in their lives, and if so, what role? The Deutsche Gesellschaft e.V. invited students from all federal states to discuss these topics in the “Reunification Workshop”. How much unity do we need? Is there a shared national consciousness between East and West? Is unity a unifying myth or a real goal? These and other questions were up for debate. My fellow student Helen Simon and I were given the opportunity to write an essay on this topic in Chapter II: DIVIDED” MEMORY IN A UNIFIED GERMANY and to share our experiences and encounters we have had during our journey along the former for our film “As always with love”border with the readers.
